Slashdot posted <a href=”http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000143050582/”>an article</a> this morning about Microsoft putting display DRM into Longhorn. Essentially, if your monitor is too good, then it will take the video signal, downsize it, and then restretch it to fit your monitor. This not only makes the visible video quality that much lower, but it’s a completely absurd way to attempt to protect content-makers’ interests. I’ve been very good about quickly upgrading my OS when a new one is released (despite the evilness of Microsoft and such), but this is the last straw based on all the crap I’ve heard they are putting in Longhorn.
